Residents and staff at Caring Homes locations across the United Kingdom have been enjoying a week of harvest fun with a series of colourful activities to celebrate the changing of the seasons. In addition to taking part in a wide range of seasonal activities, residents and staff have also been raising money for the Care Professionals Benevolent Fund (CPBF), the charity that supports current, former and retired care professionals, by providing assistance to relieve financial hardship or sickness. With the nights drawing in, staff and residents at homes up and down the country took the opportunity to celebrate the last of the warm weather and enjoyed an array of seasonal activities. Activities included autumn woodland walks, harvest festival feasts, painting autumn leaves and a wide range of musical events, from a visit by a local school choir to a country hoedown. Autumn Gold is just one of a series of events throughout the year that homes across the Caring Homes family are encouraged and supported to take part in as part of the Home Events 2011 season. Previous highlights have included Daffodil Week in the spring, Royal Wedding Day celebrations on 29th April, Midsummer Magic and Lavender Fest. Home Events 2011 will culminate with ‘Forget Me Not Month’, which coincides with Remembrance Sunday in November. As part of Caring Homes’ commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) each event is partnered with a key charity and provides an opportunity for fundraising. The partnerships are as follows: Daffodil Week – partnered with Marie Curie Cancer Care Royal Wedding Day – partnered with Macmillan Cancer Support Midsummer Magic – partnered with the Alzheimer’s Society Lavender Fest – partnered with Age UK Autumn Gold – partnered with the Care Professionals Benevolent Fund Forget Me Not Month – partnered with The Royal British Legion Emma Charlton, Marketing Director at Caring Homes, says: “The days of bingo and whist in a stuffy lounge have really been consigned to history, and thank heavens for that! Our residents are individuals first and foremost, with great life experiences and plenty to offer for the future. “HomeEvents 2011 provides a fantastic opportunity for staff and residents to come up with some really interesting activities throughout the year and also to raise money for some very important causes. I’m absolutely delighted that Autumn Gold has proven just as much of a success as the previous events this year. “It’s wonderful to see residents and staff enjoying themselves so much while raising money for the CPBF.” Paul Jeffery, Chief Executive of Caring Homes, says: “The ‘Home Events 2011’ programme really demonstrates what Caring Homes is all about. We want to encourage our residents to remain active members of their own communities and of society as a whole. I’m immensely proud to be a part of it all.”
