The Care Professionals Benevolent Fund, which has been formed to assist all types of care professionals who are working, or who have worked, in the long term care sector by providing them with grants to help them through hard times, is delighted to announce that it has this week made it’s first grant of support.
The recipients of the award, Mr + Mrs Middleton, live in Lancashire and both have been employed as care workers for many years.
Following illness, Mrs Middleton found herself unable to work and due to further deterioration in her health, her husband was forced to give up work to care for her full time.
This unfortunately led to the couple getting into severe financial difficulties after their income support and housing benefit was cut through no fault of their own.
Having recently been given an eviction notice from their property, the Fund was delighted to be able to step in and clear the arrears on their rent, thus enabling the family to stay in their house and for Mr Middleton to return to work, by other arrangements to care for Mrs Middleton being made.
Guy Bosanko, Chairman of the CPBF, commented: ‘This is, of course, a key moment for our Fund and the realisation of our plans to help people at a time when they need it most.
We have been delighted with the response that we have received from the Care sector in support of our activities and with the official launch of the CPBF taking place in November at the National Care Awards in London, we are starting to put a number of initiatives in place to be able to raise the profile of the Fund still further and to roll out a series of fundraising schemes in 2010.’
