That's one BIG bottle of wine!

5th June 2010 – The Great British Care Awards (GBCA) raised a staggering £2,000 on behalf of The Care Professionals Benevolent Fund (CPBF) by auctioning just one bottle of wine at its national finals award ceremony held in the magnificent Guildhall, London. The auction was orchestrated by ex-GMTV presenter and GBCA host for the evening Fiona Philips. The Jeroboam or French rose wine was snapped up by the very generous Carebase Chairman, Alnur Dhanani, after a tense bidding war involving several GBCA guests.

The awards, which are held every year to celebrate excellence within the care industry, were greater ever. Guests were treated to a champagne reception and a lavish three course meal while being entertained by a trio of operatic singers disguised as Guildhall catering staff. The awards themselves gave the normally un-sung heroes of the care industry their time to shine in the spotlight, with each winner being a very worthy recipient. More importantly it gave those associated with the care sector a chance to let their hair down and celebrate the hard work they have put in to making British care great. The auction was the ‘cherry-on-top’ of a very successful evening and the proceeds could not have been donated to a more appropriate or worthy cause.

The CPBF is currently putting together regional boards and is looking for a wide range of individuals with different skills and experience to help with fund-raising initiatives and to raise its profile.
